Mrs. Van Winkle

I'm not sure if I've met my goals this week, probably not.  Visit the others here.

Last weekend, I started feeling sick and I ended up sleeping for most of the week.  For example, on Wednesday I slept for 20 hours so I just gave up on the ROW80 thing (and the everything else thing) for this week.  Still sick but feeling better than before so I'll try to put in more of an effort visiting and commenting.  After I've had a nap.  :)

I did get some reading done, and read a book I really enjoyed - One Insular Tahiti by Thea Atkinson.  Really impressed me.  I'd been saving it for when I had some time because I had a feeling I'd like it.  The first couple of chapters didn't grab me at all but I kept reading and found myself unable to put the thing down so, yeah, win.  I'm definitely going to read the rest of Thea's books and I'll just say how annoying it is when this good of a writer isn't selling books by the bucketload.  The product description can't do it justice, it's beautifully written and the characters are really well done.    *Impressed face*

  1. Ick Being sick is the worst energy suck around. People think that "You're sick, you're not doing anything, you should have plenty of time to write", but when you're sick your brain can't even comprehend the task of writing lol Hopefully after a bit of rest you'll be up and writing in no time :)

  2. Whatever you do, don't spend your time thinking "I should be writing now". Best to just enjoy your time off and come back with renewed vigor rather than guilt and the thought of catching up.

  3. Get yourself well! You need to take care of yourself first before taking care of business!

  4. I took a bit of a breather the past few days, too. And I wasn't even sick! I think we have to have our time to ponder things....

  5. I also love to read when I'm not feeling well - keeps my mind off of it. Sometimes mind & body need time off...Hope you're doing better.

  6. Hope you recover soon. The upside is you found an author you really like. And now you can ponder what's great in her novels, and enrich your own great novels. :)

  7. Thanks for the hot tip @ Thea Atkinson. Always looking for good reads. It's good to see you back. For me the worst kind of sick is always the energy sucking kind.

  10. Thanks all, trust me, I haven't been feeling guilty at all. :D I'm definitely getting better, just not as fast as I'd like.

@ Vicki, I love when I can say I really enjoyed a book. Thea's an indie and her book was of such a higher standard than a lot of the trads I've been reading that I'm extra proud to call myself indie. ;)

@ Stacey - I always feel jealous when people talk about sleeping in on the weekends so I know how you feel. It was a magical sleeping experience this week. ;P
